Back for a second year, The Thailand International Porcelain Painting Convention starts on March 6th and lasts for three days. Hosted by The Support Arts and Crafts centre in Bangsai and featuring artists coming from all over the world to compete.
Last year saw the inaugural Thailand International Porcelain Painting Convention (TIPP), and this March The SUPPORT Arts and Crafts International Centre of Thailand, in Ayutthaya, will again play host to three days of ceramic art activities. In honor of H.M.Queen Sirikit and HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, the convention aims to promote Thai pottery and the Benjarong Method of porcelain painting.
Eight artists from around the world have been chosen to represent the techniques that best showcase their individual understanding of the method. Helga Jaermann, from Switzerland but representing Thailand in her capacity as the head of the porcelain painting department at Bangsai Arts and Crafts Centre, Akira Yamada from Japan, Paula Collins from the USA, Edna Kannan (Mexico), Ingrid Lee (Australia), Li Xuewu (China), Rigoberto Antonio Huanchicay Barcos (Brazil) and Saranya Saisiri,also for Thailand.
The artists are here to take part in the competition but will also be on hand every day to demonstrate their respective styles and will also lead a workshop for members of the public to try their hand at some porcelain painting.

The events lasts from the 6th to the 9th of March, starting at 10am and ending at 6pm each day.
